Request some information from each of the ones you’re interested in. In the US, franchises are required to provide you with a Fran-chise Disclosure Document (FDD), that will provide you with all of the important in-formation about the opportunity. Find out what will be expected of you as a franchi-see, and what support you can expect to receive. As well as studying the FDD speak to current franchise owners, ideally ones you have sourced yourself, to see if the re-ality matches up to the company's sales pitch.

The Market - When you think you’ve found the right business opportunity for you, all the numbers add up, and the current franchisees have given you some positive feedback, you need to do what any business startup would do and make sure there is a market for the service you’ll be offering. Do some research on the competition in your local area to make sure the market isn’t already saturated. Find out more about the industry you’ll be going into; is it a growing industry that will make it easier for you to develop your business, or is it in decline, meaning it might not be the best franchise to choose?
